About

Hedges done considered. Locally.

Gravesend Thames-aware, honest, no upselling.

What I do

I cut hedges. I reduce overgrown ones.

That is it. I do not do tree surgery, lawn care, fencing or the rest of the garden-services bundle. Hedges are a craft worth being good at, and I keep my focus narrow so I am.

Why local matters here

Gravesham has 23 separate conservation areas, and a good number of them touch hedge-and-tree work directly: Darnley Road, Harmer Street, King Street, Milton Place and Overcliffe cover the Victorian and Edwardian core of Gravesend itself, Windmill Hill sits on the high, exposed north side of town, Lansdowne Square and The Hill cover Northfleet, and there are further ones out at Higham, Shorne, Cobham and Meopham. Any of these can bring section 211 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 into play for a tree over 75mm at chest height, six weeks' notice to Gravesham Borough Council before work starts. Many Gravesham gardens have heavy clay soil, waterlogged in winter, cracking hard in a dry summer, a different set of planting problems to sandy or chalky ground, and the exposed north-facing plots up around Windmill Hill see harder wind than most people expect from an inland town.

A contractor without that patch-specific knowledge will not know any of it without being told. I work this borough every week. The conservation-area paperwork is included. The nesting-season timing is built into how I schedule every job, not just the tricky ones. The species recommendations match what actually copes with clay and wind here.
